Hi, I'm Steve King; a fully qualified DVSA approved and DBS (formerly CRB) checked Driving Instructor.

Choosing the right Driving Instructor can be a bit of a minefield and I wanted to use this space to tell you a little about me and what I can offer you that might be different from me and why learning with Inspire Driver Training could be the right choice for you or your loved one.

I have been a professional driver for over 25 years, mostly long distance covering thousands of miles both in the UK and abroad. And in that time I've seen some brilliant examples of driving and unfortunately, some bad ones too.

In 2016, I decided that I wanted to help make driving 'better' and our roads a little 'safer' and, in 2017 I qualified as Driving Instructor (ADI).

Qualifying as a driving instructor was just the start of my journey and I've taken a great deal of extra training since then to improve my skills and the skills i can pass on. In 2019 I complete the most in depth of theses courses so far, the BTEC LEVEL 4 Award in Coaching for Driver Development. This year long course has helped me develop the tools and techniques I need to help in a way that suits you best, your way.

I have also been a fully qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist since 2013 which leaves me well placed to offer that extra help to people suffering with nerves, anxiety or a little stress about driving!

While the term Driving Instructor is the one everyone recognises for some it conjures up the image of a very authoritarian and stern looking person moving from topic to topic with rigid teaching methods. Driving is a very fluid activity so teaching you to drive has to be just as fluid. What i offer is a more equal and completely non-judgemental client centred approach which allows you to progress quickly through the skills you find easier and allowing more time for those that you might find a bit more of a challenge.

So you may be wondering if I'm an instructor, a coach, a trainer or a teacher?

I guess I'm all of them, but the real answer lies in what 'you' need form me, not what 'I' think you need.

As your trainer, my number one aim is to create a supportive learning atmosphere, making you feel comfortable so you can develop safe driving skills & knowledge for life.

So whether you are learning to drive for the first time, getting back on the road after a significant break or just want to improve your skills or confidence, my aim is to offer high quality, bespoke training that's tailored to suit you.

While a lot of traditional driving instruction is very TEST focused, which is obviously a huge part of the goal, what I offer is a more holistic approach that will help you, your son or your daughter not only be able to pass the driving test confidently but to become a safe & thinking driver capable of dealing with the complex situations that can occur on our busy roads.

I can still remember being told that after I passed my test was when 'I would learn how to drive' and I've made it part of my personal mission that everyone training with me is more than prepared not just for the test but for the road beyond. Which is why I like to include things in your training that are important to you, like help with the theory test, your future regular journeys, work commutes, school runs and even McDonalds drive thru's!

I've built my business from the ground up and being an independent instructor & not part of the bigger national or local companies it enables me to be a lot more flexible with the lessons and courses I can offer and making sure they're completely tailored to your needs. It also means that I will be there from the beginning of your journey... right through to the end!

I pride myself on having the most up to date training available & have a modern car for you to practice and train in. I realise that knowing either yourself or your loved one is in safe hands is of big importance and for that reason I carry copies of all information regarding my business, such as Insurance & DBS etc. Please don't hesitate to ask if you'd like to take a look.

You can also keep up to date with whats going on with me & Inspire by checking out the Blog and by following Inspire Driver Training on Social Media on the links at the bottom of this page.

Please feel free to contact me for a chat about your needs, or if you prefer we could arrange to meet in person.
